Black is the color of objects that do not emit or reflectlight in any part of the visible spectrum; they absorb all such frequencies of light. Mixing paints, inks or other pigments of all colors in theory eventually forms a mixture which absorbs all light and so appears black. Thus black is sometimes wrongly called 'a mixture of all colors', while in fact an object emitting or reflecting all colors is perceived as white. Sometimes black is described as an "achromatic color", but in practice it can be considered a color, as in expressions like "black cat" or "black paint".
